Powell nears end of term as Fed holds rates steady

We are learning the latest this Wednesday as the Federal Reserve left its benchmark interest rate unchanged for the third straight meeting. However, the Fed did signal it could still cut rates in the coming months. The Fed kept its short-term rate at 3.6% and retained language in its statement suggesting the next move would be a rate reduction. We are learning the latest after former FBI Director James Comey appeared in federal court in Virginia just a day after he was indicted over a ​social media post. Prosecutors allege that the post, which featured an arrangement of seashells, threatened President Donald Trump. The two-count indictment charges Comey with "knowingly and willfully" making a threat to "take the life of, and to inflict bodily harm upon" Trump and with transmitting a threat in interstate commerce.
