Suspect dead after Houston officer-involved shooting

We are now learning that a suspect is dead after a shootout with Houston police on Wednesday. According to local police, they received a call just before 4 p.m. related to a suspicious man in the southern part of the city. The caller said the man had a purse and a handgun. According to our partners at FOX 26 Houston, authorities say there were several rounds of gunfire exchanged as a responding officer took cover behind a patrol vehicle. It is now being reported that the officer rendered first aid to the suspect after the altercation, but the suspect died on the scene.

This comes as clean up efforts continue after torrential rainfall from major storms led to life-threatening floods last week. According to our partners at Fox Weather, homes were destroyed after massive amounts of water rushed across the North Shore of Oahu. In three states, California, Hawaii, and Washington, drivers are already paying more than $5 per gallon, AAA’s figures show.
