The FBI Detroit office released an update on the motive behind the Grand Blanc church attack. The shooter was motivated by anti-religious beliefs, said the special agent in charge. Those beliefs centered around hatred for the Mormon religious community.

A man has died after being shot by an off-duty Harris County deputy in Atascocita, Texas. Authorities said the off-duty officer was putting his child in the backseat of his car when the shooting occurred.

We are learning this evening of reports that the National Guard plans to train hundreds of troops in each state to be part of a rapid-response force focused on civil disturbance missions. This comes from two U.S. officials who spoke to Reuters this week, with plans to begin operations by the start of next year. A man who intentionally rammed a Dallas police car was taken into custody after a brief shootout with officers. After crashing into the DPD car, the suspect led police on a pursuit before getting out of the truck and running on foot. An officer ran after the suspect, the suspect shot at the officer and the officer returned fire. The suspect was arrested and taken to the hospital. The Los Angeles Police Department was in a high-speed pursuit of a stolen car suspect in the San Fernando Valley. During the pursuit, the suspect jumps out of the stolen minivan and carjacked a second vehicle from a gas station. The suspect then hit speeds of 115+ mph while in a stolen BMW sedan. Carlee Russell was reported missing Thursday night after she called 911 and a family member to report she had pulled over to help a toddler wandering along I-459 in Hoover, Alabama. She returned home Saturday night, but police have not released any additional information.
