A fourth law enforcement officer has died after a shootout in Charlotte, North Carolina on Monday. Police were serving a warrant for a felon wanted for possessing a firearm.

Three U.S. Marshals were killed, and five officers were wounded after a suspect opened fire on them during a U.S. Marshals Task Force investigation in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Monday afternoon, according to police. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department initially reported that "numerous" officers were shot at the scene in the 5000 block of Galway Drive, which is in the Shannon Park neighborhood. One shooting suspect was found dead, and authorities are currently determining if multiple gunmen were involved. In addition to the three deceased U.S. Marshals Task Force officers, four Charlotte police officers were injured. One officer was injured critically.
