COLUMBIA, S.C. - Just before his 80th birthday, a Vietnam veteran graduated from South Carolina State University just to keep "mind and body updated."
Video footage captured the moment Linwood Riddick got his diploma, and was met with a thunderous ovation from his fellow members of the Class of 2025 and the audience.
The backstory:
Riddick graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in music industry. He was also a longtime SC State Concert Choir member.

He will turn 80 years old in July, the university said.

Riddick was born in New York and later moved to Virginia.
He briefly attended Norfolk State University before being drafted and, with the Navy, served in Vietnam before building a career in business, SC State University said.
