Shampoo recalled over possible harmful bacteria, FDA says

Kao USA Inc. a voluntary recall was issued for a brand of shampoo due to the detection of bacteria. 

Food and Drug Administration officials explained in a recall notice that Pluralibacter gergoviae bacteria doesn’t pose much of a medical risk to healthy individuals, but people with health issues like weakened immune systems could be more susceptible to infection by the bacteria.

The recall affects lots of the Oribe Serene Scalp Densifying Shampoo in 8.5 oz and 33.8 oz sizes manufactured between February 21, 2026, and February 26, 2026.
