Full list: $1K tickets help make Bills NFL’s priciest team to see, report finds

Buffalo Bills fans will need to dig deep to see Josh Allen and company’s first games at their new multi-billion dollar stadium. Average ticket prices for the Thursday night home opener against the Detroit Lions at Highmark Stadium soared well past the $1,000 mark, making them the most expensive seats of the NFL season’s opening month, a new survey found.

Big picture view:

Waiting ten days to see the Bills take on the Los Angeles Chargers will shave nearly $500 off the $1,137 average price tag reported by Seatpick.com, but even those week-three tickets are running around $656, making them the fifth most expensive game of the month. 

The excitement over the new stadium helped drive up prices to the point that the Bills have become the most expensive ticket in the NFL, even when you add in the road game seats, Seatpick’s report found. The opening game premium not only pushed the average ticket price for the Bills north of $700, it also made Buffalo’s opponent that night, the Detroit Lions, the team with the second-highest average ticket price.

Other expensive NFL games

At the other end of the Great Lakes, the Monsters of the Midway appear to have monster ticket prices as well. The Chicago Bears’ two home games, against the Minnesota Vikings ($710) and the Philadelphia Eagles ($696), round out the top three most expensive games, topping the Super Bowl rematch between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots, in Foxboro, Massachusetts ($679) and the Bills’ second-ever home game at Highmark Stadium ($656).

The other side:

Those three teams’ ticket prices were hundreds of dollars more than the league-wide average of $386, but that fact also highlights some of the cheapest ways to kick off the season in person. 

Compared to that league-wide number, a fan could pay for an average ticket to an Arizona Cardinals game ($202) and have nearly enough money to buy their friend’s ticket too. Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($221) and Cleveland Browns ($230) fans, too, may have a little left over for the concession stand, slotting in as the second- and third-cheapest, respectively.

For fans who simply want to see a game and happen to be near Indianapolis at the end of next month, Seatpick said the Colts’ game against the Houston Texans ($136) is the cheapest ticket of the month.
