Music icon Beyoncé celebrated the 4th of July holiday weekend with a brand-new single that could also be considered an early birthday present – or, rather, an early B’Day present.

Big picture view:

The superstar picked the nation’s 250th birthday to drop "Morning Dew (Donk)" because the holiday weekend coincided with the 60-day mark until her 45th birthday and the re-issuing of one of her biggest albums, her management company explained in a statement.

What they're saying:

The company explained that the new track, which was produced by Beyoncé and Pharrell Williams, is her first new release in two years and called it "a direct nod to her loyal BeyHive to commemorate the upcoming epic celebration of B’Day."

What's next:

"Morning Dew (Donk)" will be included on the 20th Anniversary edition of B’Day, which is coming out September 4, 20 years to the day after its original release. When it first came out, the album soared to the top of the charts and went gold in less than a week.
