A brand of baby monitors was recalled because the devices may pose a fire risk.

Consumer Product Safety Commission officials in a Feb. 26 recall notice explained that the display or "parent" unit of the baby monitors can "overheat and/or spark when charging, posing a fire hazard to consumers."

Hisense Ltd. which manufactures the devices, has received 11 reports of incidents involving the display unit for the monitors, with the CPSC noting that no injuries have been reported.

Which baby monitors were recalled?

Why you should care:

Babysense Max View Baby Monitor with the model number VBM55 is involved in the recall. Approximately 81,800 of the devices are affected, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

CPSC officials noted that this issue impacts the display unit that allows the parents to see and hear the baby (not the camera component that is placed in the child’s bedroom).

These products were sold on Amazon.com, Walmart.com, and babylist.com between January 2023 and December 2025 in the price range of $90 and $180.

If I have the baby monitors, what should I do with them?

What you can do:

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is urging consumers with the affected devices to stop using the display unit immediately and contact Hisense for a free replacement display unit that does not pose a fire hazard.
